In 1981 Mr. Tony T. K. Lau founded Tony Lau Insurance Agencies Ltd.

Tony Lau Insurance’s first location was at King Edward and Oak Street in Vancouver. |

The company needed more space and moved to the south side of the current Vancouver Main Street building in Vancouver. |

After acquiring the portfolios of two insurance agencies, we opened a second branch at No. 3 Road and Cambie Road in Richmond. |

Needing more than double the existing space, we moved to the north side of the Main Street building where it is currently located. |

Tony Lau Insurance acquired Focus Insurance Agencies at its current location in Richmond Centre. The name “Focus Insurance” was subsequently changed to “Tony Lau Insurance”. By 1998 Tony Lau Insurance operated from three branches: one in Vancouver and two in Richmond. |
2005 (March) |
Tony Lau Insurance merged its two Richmond branches. All the files were transferred to the Richmond Centre branch where it is currently located. |

We opened a new branch in Burnaby at 4452 Hastings Street (near Willingdon). |
2005 (September) |
Tony Lau Insurance acquired Cathay Pacific Insurance Agency Ltd. (founded in 1980) located on Cambie Street in Vancouver. By September 2005 Tony Lau Insurance operated from four branches in Greater Vancouver:1. Vancouver East (Main Street & East 24th Avenue)
2. Vancouver West (Cambie Street)
3. Richmond
4. Burnaby |

Tony Lau Insurance’s Vancouver West Branch, which needed more space and parking, was moved to a much more spacious and prominent location on Granville Street (at West 66th Avenue) with ample free parking for customers. At the same time the trade name of that branch, “Cathay Pacific Insurance”, was changed to “Tony Lau Insurance”.
